The Territorial Committee UISP Ciriè Settimo Chivasso unites 12.000 people, and 140 affiliated sports clubs, present throughout the territory north of Turin: Ciriè, Lanzo, Robassomero, Borgaro, Leinì, Volpiano, Settimo, Brandizzo, Chivasso, for a total about 50 municipalities. International projects are carried out with partner associations in France, Romania, Bulgaria, Latvia, Turkey, Slovakia, Hungary, Portugal and Greece. The most recent project funded by the European Commission is PACE, made for the 50-75 age group and aimed to bring them to discover and rediscover the pleasure of physical activity for health.

UISP is convinced that Sport For All can and play an important role and must assume full awareness of its task of building and maintaining solidarity relations, helping to combat the isolation and marginalization deriving from illness, disability or from mental discomfort: it is precisely the physical alctivity and sport practice that, in addition to having positive effects from the point of view of prevention, treatment and rehabilitation, also have the essential function of creating community relationships, of involving everyone, each according to his/her abilities , skills and knowledge, in the construction of collective well-being, which is a fact that affects not only who cares and who is cared for.

A fundamental point, central to the UISP policies for mental health (and for health and for the promotion of well-being in general), is in fact the active participation of users, family members, operators and citizens in mental health services to ensure good treatments throughout Italy and to build health as a common good.

It is on this strong core of meaning and value that the UISP builds its campaigns, projects and initiatives concerning disability and mental health, from “Matti per il Calcio” to projects such as “Comrades of Rope”, “Captain Hook”, “Sportivamente” and “Abili for Sport”, “Nordic Walking for Intellectual Disabilities” passing through the local initiatives of the territorial committees, the regional and the leagues, areas and coordination of activities; and it is around this important goal that UISP is trying to intertwine the actions of the various projects, initiatives and campaigns with a view to building a reference framework for coherent actions and a common feeling at national level, as well as in view of reproducibility and sustainability of the actions themselves.
