With adults from disadvantage backgrounds, Scout Society is working to develop their skills on a continous basis and integrate tem better in the community.

One of the objectives of the organisation is to reach and positively influence as many people from local, national and international communities.

Scout society started working with people with intellectual disabilities several years ago. Last year the organization has concluded a collaboration partnership with the Community Services Complex for the Child with Special Needs Targu-Jiu, within the General Directorate of Social Assistance and Child Protection Gorj – the formal organisation of the Government dealing with people with intellectual disabilities.

Thus, youth workers from Scout Society in partnership with the experts of the center have organized different sport and physical activities for young people with intellectual disabilities. The frequency of these activities was at least two per month. Among the main activities organized, aside from sport, there were integration activities through games, but also cognitive exercises, development of employability skills (courses for the drafting of CVs, simulation of participating in an interview, tools for job search, training on the use of the computer). The groups of people with intellectual disabilities with whom the organization works usually do not exceed a number of 10 people because it is very important for each person to obtain a result, and this can only be achieved through a lot of work. Initially, the people with intellectual disabilities from  the youth center were more reluctant over the activities, but later a connection was established between them and the youth workers within the organization. Important activities were also those where the young people learned to do different handmade things that through the support offered by the association. These little handmade crafts had the possibility to be sold to different occasions such as Martisor, Christmas and Easter. In conclusion, Scout Society is providing services for people with intellectual disabilities under close connection and supervision from experts from General Directorate of Social Assistance and Child Protection Gorj.
